Introduction:
This paper will discuss how a proficient practice of computer forensics aid in todays networked organization. In today’s digital era where computer is the major integral of our daily life, securing our information systems and networks devices from emerging threats has been challenging for information security officers and raised many security concern in today’s business. Perhaps one of the greatest threat to our information systems and network devices has been the malware attacks which includes scams, phishing, Denial of Services and the list goes on. No matter how much we harden our systems, there has not been one single system or platform that is 100% infallible for malware and spyware attacks. As a threat continue to grow so is the need for forensics specialist to counteract crime committed by means of computer. Computer forensics play an important role by investigating and analyzing data taken from computer hard disk or other storage device adhering to generally accepted standards and procedures so that evidence collected can be admissible in a court case.
Develop a compelling argument that you would present to the Board, making a case for creating a system forensics department and building a functional lab.
The increasing pace of technology adoption, the amount of information sharing, and dependency on mobility and accessibility brings up a concern on how to keep the critical business systems, data and other assets secure as it travels through network. Just in the last year we have seen several large, tech-savvy companies such as Target, Facebook, Gmail, Twitter, and Sony Suffering from data breach.
