Assignment 7

1. Some obstacles that the Farm Sanctuary might be faced with in Missouri that they would not in cities like LA are the rate if social change that they would be looking for would be a lot slower in a rural area like Missouri then they would like. While in a place like LA the social change would be a lot faster or rapid. The tolerance of differences would be a lot less in rural areas because people are used to their routine and might not want to change that. While in big cities they would be more welcoming of change. In cities you have more of a variety of people and more of a chance to get a group of people on your side. While in rural areas one person might talk about how they aren’t in support of the sanctuary so a bad word gets out around the town and nobody supports it.

2. Resource Mobilization is stressing the ability of the movement’s members to acquire resources and to mobilize the people into accomplishing the movement’s goals. The Farm Sanctuary success goes towards resource mobilization. The Farm Sanctuary has tours that people can go on to promote them and see what they are actually doing to help the animals. They also have an adoption network where you can adopt the animal and help it have a new beginning. You can also get a job there as well. All of these thing contribute to persuading the people to get involved on their movement and help them reach their goal of helping all these animals and stopping farm animal factory cruelty.
