Information System Architecture and Process Design

When dealing with the architecture and process design, following the SDLC is very important. Each layer is designed to build from the bottom up and if this order is broken, it causes for a weak design architecture. In order to get a clear defined picture of the information system architecture, you need to list in detail the requirements for the system and how it will function as a whole.

Operational and Performance Requirements

Since we are looking to intergrate the old system in to the new system, we will not be adding in any crazy coding language but rather stick to simple HTML5 and simple Javascript for the new HR system. The old system requirements will be cause for bare minimum but after discussing with the IT team, we will be doing a full upgrade on the servers and end user terminals from Windows XP to Windows 7 and to Winserver2008 on the servers. The system will be based off of a client-server architecture due to the ease at which accessing data reliably from the terminals connected to the server. The goal of the new architect is to have a system that can handle and maintain the payload / workload of data traffic throughout the day. Thousands of files will be accessed at any given moment and delay or lost data is not an option.

Security

Architecture security is a big issues and should be kept at the top of priority for this project. You are dealing with an HR system that will be housing virtually every employee’s personal information as well as customer’s information and cannot afford for data loss or breach of security. All of the data will be stored in one location, and that one location will be at the headquarters or corporate office on the main servers. A second server will be at the same location in a different building that will house a backup of all information. SSH in to the server for IT personnel will...
