PROJECT OVERVIEW

Background of the study

Technology has certainly changed the way of people live. It has influenced the different sides of life and redefined living. Undoubtedly, technology plays an important role in every sphere of life. Several routine manual tasks can be automated, through the use of technology. In like manner, many of the complex and critical processes can be carried out with ease and efficiency with the help of modern technology. Because of various positive technology, the fields of education and industry have undergone major changes which imply changed for the better. Computers and the internet technology have revolutionalized the field of education. The importance of technology in schools cannot be ignore. In fact, with the start of computer in education, it has become easier for the teachers to provide knowledge and also for the students to be more knowledgeable. The computer technology has been effective for the students because they gain knowledge in an exciting way.

An academic monitoring system, when implemented properly can define the difference between ineffective and effective schools and teachers. Effective and teachers are able to adjust the mode of instruction depending on the performance of the students. This consequently improves the student performance as well as the level of instruction. Ineffective teachers on the other hand, present instructional materials rigidly or on a prescheduled basis, thus failing to adjust the instruction to meet the needs of the student (Schacter, 2003). In order to make proper adjustments for student performance, teachers must make appropriate decisions based on the information they have gathered while implementing instructional practices. This decision making capability requires constant monitoring of student’s performance.
