New Approaches to Acne Treatment

The skin contains about 5 million pores per the average human body. Every pore contains a gland that produces oil. These glands are known as sebaceous and they secrete sebum, otherwise known as oil. Sebaceous glands are capable of producing too much oil, and that causes the pore blockage. Bacteria and dirt can get built up inside and that is when acne is caused.

While there is still not a cure for acne, dermatologists are still finding new treatments that have been found useful. Over-the-counter products might work for many people but they usually take a month and a half to two months to show improvement, unlike what advertisements may claim. There are also prescription medications for more severe cases of acne.

Dermatologists have found that the most successful acne treating products are applied directly to the skin, or also by taking oral medications. Acne can be found anywhere on the skin but most commonly on the face, chest and back. There are different regimens for different areas of the body as well, as one persons skin might be more delicate in a certain area than the next.
