Orthopedic and Musculoskeletal Disorders

The student that this IEP will be about is Sally Sue Sumner. Sally is an 8 year old female that suffers from Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. It was very obvious to her parents that she had a problem when she cried every time she gripped something with her hands. While they were not sure what the problem was, they consulted a doctor when she started complaining of excruciating pain every time she bent her knees. Eventually she was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis which has left her struggling some in school. This assignment will not only cover the IEP of Sally, but also the specific injury and complications of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. The salient complications as a result of the disorder. The financial effects and assistance in the educational system, in the discussion there will be treatment options and rehabilitation options for the disorder. The appropriate educational interventions and the teachers responsibilities in dealing with students that have orthopedic and musculoskeletal disorders.

Present Level of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance in English Language Arts

Sally is a third grade student who is included in general education classroom with In Class Support, accommodations and modifications. SALLY is currently functioning on a 1st grade level. She has a primary disability of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, Autism and other health impairments.

* EK.28 write letters of alphabet from dictation without attention to case lower and upper case.

* E1.19 name letters associated with consonant sound at beginning of dictated words.
