In these poor economic times, when several companies are closing or downsizing, Artemis Sportswear, like any other company, will have to take steps to improve business and profit margins in order to ensure that the company survives. Whether Artemis Sportswear is a small company or a large company the objective remains the same; increasing the profit margin is the bottom line. The use of cutting operational expenses is shown in several forms from outsourcing to cutting back everyday expenses. Methods of cutting costs are essential for improving the profit margins of Artemis Sportswear, but the issue of how these cuts may affect the workers of the company needs to be addressed.

Cost cutting may be shown in various forms, from cross- training employees to outsourcing. Artemis Sportswear should start cutting costs from within the company by buying generic products such as pens, paper, and printer cartridges. Artemis Sportswear can have seminars or company picnics to teach employees different ways to assist the company in conserving energy. One must set aside the high-quality material, for example pricy letterheads or laser papers, for times where the company has to correspond with consumers and prospects. If Artemis Sportswear were to cross-train employees, the company could then have sewing machine operators (those who assemble the clothes) learn to be pressers (those who eliminate wrinkles and give shape to the final product). Cross-training employees eliminates the need for temporary workers, thus allowing companies to save money.

The sportswear collections of some sports and lifestyle companies show sporty casual wear, motivated by celebrities who been spotted wearing nontraditional suede and leather track suits to events and designers who have branched out to sportswear featuring sequined skirts and tailored denim.
