Question: What have you learned on International Trade: Practice and Trends?

Taking the subject International Trade: Practices and Trends under Dr. Victor Endriga is one of the most interesting subjects I've ever take. Learning many things not just about our lesson, but also about other matters regarding life and how can we succeed in life. I can never repay those words that he said during our discussions. Words that inspired me, gave me courage, and value education. Let me tell to you the things that I learned from this subject matter.

I learned the steps on making a business without illegal forms. Professor Endriga taught us very well the right steps on how to make a business if we are interested. He told us that names of businesses can only be used once. Establishing a business is not that easy. It takes a lot of papers to sign, print, copy, and fill up. Effort and patience must be put too.

I also learned the meaning and importance of GATS. It is an acronym from the word General Agreement on Trade in Services. According to our professor GATS is a multilateral agreement regulating international trade and its purpose is to substantially reduce tariffs and other trade barriers and to eliminate some preferences, on a reciprocal and mutually advantageous basis. Like the WTO, GATS is also have certain objectives such as to raise standards of living. To ensure full employment and large and steady growing volume of real income and effective demand, to developed full use of resources of the world. And to expand production and international trade.

We also discussed the term “service” in international trade and its 12 sectors. Service covers a wide range of economic activities and WTO secretariat has categorized this into twelve sectors which are in turn are subdivided 155 sub-sectors.
