The Old Course Shop

I chose to do the “The Old Course Shop” because I believe it to be the most famous as it overlooks the 18th green in the middle of the town. There were only a few differences between the Old Course Shop and the ones back home. The main difference was that, The Old Course, being a famous tourist attraction for golfers around the world, had many more souvenirs in the pro shop than you would find at golf courses in Ontario. There were paintings, flags, pictures, purses, and teddy bears with “Old Course” logos and famous events such as the British Open on them. The clothes were sold at prestige prices that were sometimes overwhelming. Engraved bag tags, and old hickory shafted clubs were available for engraving and would make an unbelievable display or collectable. It would be very difficult to find specialty items such as the hickory shafted clubs in pro shops across Ontario. Along with being a tourist attraction for golf lovers, the Old Course Shop was also a tourist attraction for people with no interest in golf. Tourists with no interest in golf or playing the old course were browsing items for gifts or souvenirs of the town. The most interesting thing I found was that the Old Course had its own ball packaging for their Titleist Pro V1’s whereas in Ontario, the balls come in normal packaging regardless of how prestige the course is. There weren’t any golf clubs in this pro shop but down the road were many different shops that provided them. I found that the more off site to the Old Course, the better the pricing; it was worth the extra walk to get a cheaper piece of merchandise with the same quality.
