RECRUITMENT

Every organization, be it private or public; be it product-oriented or service-oriented, needs to attract people of right calibre for right posts, in order to be more efficient while being more effective. Because of the lack of people with specific skills for specific positions, talent management comes into existence. It is recognized to be of strategic importance to business organizations in order to focus on the development of its human resources. But in order to make Talent Management highly effective, an organization needs to attract and hire people of higher competencies. And according to a survey conducted by CIPD, Recruitment and Retention were given the highest priority among all the objectives of the HR function. Moreover, the organizations need to be highly innovative in their recruitment process due to the competition for the scarce resources.

There is a common misconception among the people that Recruitment is the process of Selection of employee(s) in an organization. But Recruitment and Selection are two different processes. Recruitment makes the base for the Selection. It is a process of gathering and providing a number of applicants from whom the employers/selectors may choose. The recruitment agency can be done internally or can be outsourced. Recruitment is defined as an activity/process of inviting applications from suitable candidates for a vacancy in an organization. It is a process which starts from the advertisement of the job vacancy till the gathering of all the suitable applications.

The Aims of Recruitment

• To obtain a pool of suitable candidates for vacant posts

• To use a fair process and be able to demonstrate that the process was fair

• To ensure that all the Recruitment activities contribute to organizational goals and a desirable organizational image

• To conduct Recruitment activities in an efficient and...
