Christmas, the Best Holiday

Christmas is a central holiday in North America. It is a holiday that is centered on what many North Americans call “Christmas” or “Holiday” break. Christmas takes place on December 25th and celebrates the birth of Jesus, the Christian saviour. On Christmas, Christians typically attend a church service. Although not everyone adheres to the Christian base of Christmas, it can be a truly magical event to both adults and children alike, and for this reason many people hold fond memories of Christmas. Christmas is the greatest holiday because it creates the opportunity for people to experience the joy of togetherness and gift-giving, while also positively stimulating the economy.

Togetherness is one of the most important aspects of Christmas which makes it greater than other holidays. Humans love to be loved and when humans gather with loved ones, they acquire a greater sense of happiness. The time surrounding Christmas is known to many as Holiday Break and it is a vacation from school or work. This break allows for people to travel great distances to be with family and friends that they would not otherwise see if they were not given time off from their school or work. On Christmas Day many people celebrate their togetherness with a feast. This feast usually features food items similar to those found in Thanksgiving’s feast. These foods are typically turkey, potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. Along with togetherness on Christmas Day is gift-giving.

Another aspect of Christmas which makes it the greatest holiday is the gift-giving associated with it. On Christmas Day, it is tradition for many people to open gifts from one another. Gift opening can be a very exciting time for those who are to receive gifts because they are presented with physical items and also for those who give gifts because they witness the joy the gift brings to the gift receiver.
