THE PROBLEMS AND ITS SETTINGS

Introduction

Information technology is the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information system particularly software applications and computer hardware. It deals with the use of electronic computers and computer softwarein order to explore, identify, assist and give information needed by an institution.

Today, the term information technology has been recognized in this world. It performs a variety of duties that range from installing applications, designing systems and information databases which include data management, networking and software design, as well as the management and administration of the entire systems. This is the reason why many establishments divert their manual way of handing their business to computer-based system. Manual system takes a lot of time inputting data manually using excel or hand written and it’s hard for them to find all the data and information especially when bulk of records are stored in the filing cabinet.

Background of the Study

AMA Computer Learning Center- College of Daet (ACLC) was established on June 15, 1998. During that time there were 346 enrollees-the highest among the newly opened branches for the school year 1998-1999. And in the year 2009, the school name was changed to ACLC College of Daet. It is located at 2nd Floor Guinhawa Building, J.Lukban Street, Daet, Camarines Norte.

Currently, the school is using manual in terms of their student’s assessment on tuition fees, storing and retrieval of student’s information and generation of reports. With these, different problems arises such as misplaced/loss of records, miscalculation of fees, and redundant data. In terms of report generations, the personnel-in-charge is having a hard time organizing and encoding all the records and creates delay in the submission of reports to the school Director.(Please see also Appendix A – Cause and Effect Diagram of the current...
