“It went Click”

The cold wind of December brushed on his face as he motioned his SLR camera to face the Eiffel Tower. He was waiting for a certain someone. The scene was magnificent. The setting was flooded with round orange lights which were effortlessly illuminated by the nearby waterways. Motionless statues all around look real, as if it’s a human being trying to give humor. People too, are around, flocking the wide space of the park.

Cadence, then manipulated his camera. “Perfect,” he gasped. Click. He grinned. A surge of memories overflowed.

7 years ago, he helped a little girl cross a street. This girl wore thick black glasses. With short messy hair, she accentuated her character by the pastel- colored shirt and the awkwardly short jumper pants she was dressed in. Her shoes were stubby and outmoded. He soon learned that this little girl was actually a college student, so was he.

6 ½ years ago, she was Cadence’s first college friend. How that happened, I cannot tell. Cadence was into photography so he brought her to his favorite site to capture photos. Sooner, they’re best friends. Sooner, Cadence bought her an SLR camera. Then they both took photos, seeing who got the better shot each and every time. She was like a sister for Cadence, a little sister. And he fell in love to a different girl.

6 years ago, Cadence learned of her sickness. She said, “I’ll die when I fall in love.” Cadence of course, knowing that she loved telling jokes, did not believe. “I lack growth hormone too. But when I grow up, I’ll be one fine lady!” She added.

5 ½ years ago, she decided to join a photography tournament. She thought of a first kiss as her theme. Cadence agreed to be her model, so as herself. And they kissed… Click. “Do you think there is a teeny- weeny bit of love in that kiss?” she asked. “No, of course there is none. Silly.” Cadence answered. She sighed. On her mind, she said, “For me, there’s love in that kiss.”

5 years ago, Zenea left Cadence.
