INDIVIDUALITY IS DENIED TO A PERSON WHO IDENTIFIES WITH OR BELONGS TO A GROUP

Everyone has different personalities and qualities which make up a person. A person’s individuality is what sets them apart from other members of society and thus makes them different. As a human being we are meant to belong to a group; however we are more likely to be drawn towards a group that has similar qualities and traits as we do. We may also change our identity and our own unique personality in order to fit in with and feel a sense of belonging to a particular group.

As we know it is almost impractical to assume that one person will not display unique individuality when they are a part of a group. Even after trying to follow the morals and rules of a group, it is impossible for a person not to show some sort of individuality and unique personality. We can see this to be true by looking at examples from the film “Witness”. In the film we are brought upon a small Amish community who enforces strict culture and rules. A group such as the Amish attempts to create an ideal set personality in which members should reflect on, however due to every person being different and unique in their own individual way this cannot be achieved. This individuality is what develops and changes and transforms religion and other cultures. The modernization and transformation of these groups can only be achieved by different individual with their own ideas and visions.
