Introduction

The company was founded in 1971, by Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegel, and Jordan Bowker pulling together $8,000 to open up the first Starbucks in a small building in Pike Place market in Seattle, Washington, offering some of the world’s finest fresh-roasted whole bean coffees. In 1982, Howard Schultz joins the Starbucks marketing team and convinced the company to set-up an espresso bar in downtown Seattle. Then in 1987, Howard Schultz with the help of local investors bought Starbucks and now it is the largest coffeehouse company in world. There are now more than 21,000 retail stores in 65 countries. Starbucks has 151,000 full-time and 31,000 part-time employees or "partners" as they call them. The company is well beyond the growth cycle of development. Starbucks BCS has turned it into the maturity stage in life cycle of business. The Starbucks experience is unique from all others. Starbuck’s loyal customers have stuck by their favorite brand through many challenges and finally it is stable.
