I. ABSTRACT
48 college students from the University of the Philippines, Diliman were selected to take part in a social experiment. The participants are given 20 minutes to put as many puzzle pieces together. Sixteen people were asked to do the puzzle individually while the rest were divided into four groups of 4 and two groups of 8. The experimenting group measured the individual performances of the participants by counting the number of pieces they were able to put together in the 20 minute period provided to them. Using the data from the experiment, the researchers input the number of pieces into SPSS and conducted the analysis of variance in order to find the relationship of work performance of the individuals and the group size they are in. As a result to the experiment, the experimenting group found out that there is a significant relationship between the group size and the individual work performance. The researchers therefore conclude that the work performance of individuals in a group declines as the group size increases.
