CJ210: Criminal Investigation

One of a few episodes contemporarily alluded to as the "Wrongdoing of the Century," Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb, known as "Darling" and "Dickie" to their companions, killed 14 year-old Bobby Franks. Seven months of arranging by two masters brought about a generally basic and twisted wrongdoing. Franks' body and a couple of eye glasses with a different peculiarity traceable to Leopold were found in under 12 hours. The hardship of their determination fell upon 14-year-old Bobby Franks, the child of well off Chicago watch producer Jacob Franks, and Loeb's second cousin. While Franks was strolling home from the Harvard School for Boys, he was approached by Leopold and Loeb driving an auto leased under an expected named, and was offered a ride home. Just two squares from his home, Bobby declined the offer. Loeb, who had played tennis with Bobby at the Loeb's family's home a couple of days prior, advised Bobby he needed to talk about the tennis racket Bobby was utilizing. Bobby entered the auto, where he was beaten with an etch and choked. Frank's body was taken to a culvert along the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks approximately 25 miles north of Chicago near Wolf Lake in Hammond, Indiana. Hydrochloric acid was poured on Franks to obscure his identity.
