Final Assignment

Introduction

We have conducted a research about a hi-tech company which focuses on development of mobile applications. The research is based on numerous interviews and observations which were conducted by a C level officer in the company during more than 3 years and for his request, no identifiable details will be provided.

The main organizational challenge which was detected is a prominent lack of motivation amongst the employees due to various reasons which will be elaborated throughout this paper.

The company’s background

The company at hand has formed about 7 years ago as a start-up which developed an online PC support solution for home consumers. It has grown along the years and today consists of about 40 employees. The company was acquired a year ago by an American based global corporate which made the company as its Israeli R&D center.

Management

The management has grown together with company and started its professional way without any managerial experience from other places. All decisions are made by the CEO, who doesn’t tend to consult with his other officers. During the past 3 years the frequency of management meetings has declined from once a week to once a month and to a complete cancellation. All decisions are being communicated through daily meetings with all employees on the same hour every day and hence the managers are sometimes aware of new decisions through their subordinates if they happen to miss a daily meeting.

Human capital

All employees are expert in their fields; most of them take the role of software developers, graphic designers and product managers. They are either graduates of top universities or elite technological units of the military. The recruiting process is long and slow to make sure that the candidate is apt to the job, and would fit to the company’s spirit.
