Generic Strategic Model

The Michael Porter generic strategies are a set of competitive strategies that are aimed to the overall development of a company. These strategies seek to gain a competitive advantage for the company through the cost leadership, the differentiation and the focus strategy.

- Cost leardership strategy: the firm has created a culture based on costs reduction teaching it also to the employees. The cost leadership strategy consists in selling low price product. In fact the company shares the studios of the production, it uses the same production’s staff for different programs, they do very rigorous cost control. It’s also important to reduce sales, marketing and advertising cost.

- Differentiation strategy: TyC is one of the most important leader in the local and international market because of the production and sales of a unique product . The main differentiation in based on the design of the product in term of characteristics, brand, quality, service and attention to the customers. TyC try to satisfy its custumer priorities even if this could rise prices.

- Focus strategy: the firm focuses his attention on a specific market segment. His strenghts are concentrated on the production and sales with the aim of satisfing all the needs and preferences of a particular customer group (ex. live tv sport shows and self made show). This allows the company to specialize itself in a determinate type of customer

Conclusion: Tyc focuses his strategy on differentiation even if it’s almost a monopolistic company. One example is the new service of LAN company which consist in transmitting the latest news of the most important sport events in all flights, weekly updated.
