Soft Skills

I agree with the first statement because when I think of soft skills, I think of traits a person has that allows them to help communicate and work with other people. I also agree with the second statement because these traits are needed to problem solve. You cannot solve problems if you do not have the ability to communicate and work with others.

According to CBC News, new graduates have the techincal skills needed for business, but they do not obtain the soft skills needed. There is a high demand out for employees who not only have the hands on skills to take on the job, but they want employees who are able to problem solve and communicate together as a team. Janet Lane believes that new graduates are lacking these soft skills because of the way that schools are teaching their curriculum. The schools are more worried about the technical skills than the soft skills when the soft skills are crucial for success. I believe I need improvement on areas like "Planning and Organizing" and "Self-Management". According to Google, "planning" is the process of making arrangements for something, and "organizing" is the process of arranging something into a structured whole. Pearson says that "self management" is defined as the personal application of behavior change tactics that produces a desired change in behavior.
