THE MILLENNIOUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS AND TARGET

Goal 1: Eradicate Extreme Poverty and Hunger

Target 1: Halve, between 1990 and 2015, the proportion of people whose income is less than USD 1 a day

Target 2: Halve, between 1990 and 2015, the proportion of people who suffer from hunger

Opinion: The world leaders must ensure that they fight against poverty and hunger, by creating job opportunities. The world leaders and government must increase the SASSA Grant in order to eradicate poverty and hunger and to reduce the high rate of street kids as they leave homes due to poverty and hunger.

Goal 2: Achieve Universal Primary Education

Target 1: Ensure that, by 2015, children everywhere, boys and girls alike will be able to complete a full course of primary schooling

Opinion: Education is the key success, if the world leaders can implement No Fee Schools and ensure Nutrition to learners, there will be no uneducated people and the high rate of street kids will decrease rapidly.

Goal 3: Improve Maternal Health

Target 1: Reduce by three-quarters, between 1990 and 2015 the maternal mortality rate

Opinion: Health is the first priority to human being, Department of Health should employ community members who will ensure that they provide Maternal Health to people in need, Mobile Clinics can also improve maternal health.

Goal 4: Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and Other Diseases

Target 1: Have halted by 2015, and begun to reverse, the spread of HIV/AIDS

Target 2: Have halted by 2015, and begin to reverse, the incidence of malaria and other major diseases

Opinion: The public is willing to fight against diseases they have, it’s only the Department of Health who does not provide the public with the quality service. The Department of Health must employ enough staff and make use of mobile clinics and fight against the diseases. Provide support system to the needy.
