INTRODUCTION

This movie was another benchmark movie made by the famous Hollywood director Oliver Stone. Some say that it was another masterpiece based on his works before ‘Any Given Sunday’. The major reasons for the success of this movie were the good casting. Starting with Al Pacino who is famous around the world for his remarkable performances in the past, especially with ‘Scarface’.

Willy Beamen the wonder boy in the movie coming out of college from Dallas, Texas gets drafted by the Miami Sharks and is basically a benchwarmer as the 3rd line quarterback. However everything changes once he started ‘throwing up’ and making touch downs.

Next in line is Cameron Diaz who is originally famous for her comic roles in several movies such as Charlie’s Angels, but here she plays a very focused and serious role as a General Manager of the Miami Sharks (American Football Team).

Lastly the cast is also accompanied by Dennis Quaid who plays Jack Rooney, a very inspirational leadership role and James Woods as the messed up doctor who cares about the players so much that he takes chances with their lives.

This movie was perfect for a leadership analysis assignment as it has so much to offer, the leadership roles are fictional but they are so influencing and so strong. The good part is that all of them are leaders in different levels and at first they all are against each other but in the end these leaders themselves come together to make a team and win the playoffs.

What makes them come together and win the playoffs is going to be part of our analysis. What leadership traits shown by Tony D’Amato and Willy Beamen brought the team to their success?
