Abstract

This article explores the many different attributes that make up the larger concept of Job satisfaction. Job satisfaction can be broken down into three main subcategories: regional, professional, and personal job satisfaction. Each level of satisfaction is investigated to have a deeper understanding of the components that make up each branch, which ultimately makes up the subcategory. Regional satisfaction will be discussed stressing governmental implications, geographical makeup and regional attitude. Field satisfaction will be concerning job classification, field provisions and personal accountability. Personal satisfaction will supplement research concerning life stage, feeling of worth, productivity and helping others. All evaluated on a different level but indeed are dependent upon each other when developing an outlook on job satisfaction. Different educational and professional articles are used to support the information provided and the facts mentioned. Each reference has different opinions and statistics that when put together work to give a full interpretation on Job satisfaction in the work force.

Overview of Job Satisfaction

Job satisfaction looks different to every individual. Certainly, not everyone feels the same about the job they work day after day but it is evident that understanding how job satisfaction is understood helps to decipher why some people cannot wait to go to work and why others completely dread the thought. Schleicher & Fox from the Encyclopedia of Career Development define Job Satisfaction as;
