Accountability is an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for ones actions. Now for the Army, it becomes an obligation more than“willingness” while you have to be willing to do it as well.Accountability is the act of taking responsibility for that which falls under your domain in other words, it’s doing what you say you’re going to do. Accountability is the cornerstone of integrity, which is the result of consistent honesty and responsibility in your actions. In the military, it is absolutely imperative that you do what you say you’re going to do and that you agree to be held accountable for those orders that are directed specifically to you or those in your command. A breakdown in leadership and responsibility can be bad anywhere, but it has the potential to be downright catastrophic in the military. Accountability is the ability to follow through with your commitments. Accountability is when you overcome fear and accept responsibility for the consequences of you actions, An example of being on time is when someone tells you a specific time and you show up 5-10 minutes early, nt by the time they told you to arrive at. it also means responsibility, it also means that if you fail your small part of the mission (to be on time), you must be held liable for your failure. The Importance of Accountability Is so you know where everyone is so if you need a person for something you will know where to find them. It is also necessary to have accountability to make sure everyone in your unit is safe and so you make sure they are where they are supposed to be. You also want your unit to be on standby so they are ready for anything that may happen. It is also needed so nobody goes UA. When you have accountability it is easier to track down people if you were to need them for anything.
