HUM GREEK/ ROMAN

OEDIPUS REX: INTREPRETATION OF ACT 2

CHORUS: Who is the wise man referring to? Whoever committed the murdered is now on the run. The son of Zeus will find and punish him.

CHORUS: There is a manhunt covering all the land looking for the suspect. He’s alone, without resources and needs to be brought to justice.

CHORUS: The wise man has left me confused. They’re blaming each other for the murder. I’m now at a crossroad not knowing who to trust.

CHORUS: Unlike the gods, I cannot trust a man’s word. I refuse to convict anyone without proper evidence.

CREON: Everyone listen, accusations against me are false. Alleged acts has ruined my reputation. Please believe me, I would never jeopardize our relationship by committing such crimes.

CHORUS: You’re just defending yourself. You could be lying.

CREON: If accusations aren’t true, it’s my right to defend myself.

CHORUS: Why are you being accused?

CREON: Oedipus wasn’t being rational. Has he presented any evidence?

CHORUS: Not sure, I don’t have access to privileged information.

OEDIPUS: Creon how dare you show yourself in public? You’re a murderer and you conspire to take over the kingdom.

CREON: All of your self-proclaimed accusations are false. You refuse to listen to anyone.

OEDIPUS: You’re both cunning and deceitful.

CREON: Allow me to say this one thing.

OEDIPUS: Ok, but don’t waste time trying to convince me your innocent.

CREON: Why are you so stubborn? This makes no sense!

OEDIPUS: You will suffer for the crimes you committed.

CREON: Tell me what wrong-doing have I done that can be proven.

OEDIPUS: Wasn’t it you who advised me to seek outside help from the wise man.

CREON: Yes I agree.

OEDIPUS: How long has it been since Laius…

CREON: Laius what?

OEDIPUS: Passed away?

CREON: It’s been a while.

OEDIPUS: Was the wise man in business at the time?

CREON: Yes, just as he is today.

OEDIPUS: Did the wise man mention anything about me?

CREON: Not...
