Family History Project

Every family has history. Some families have history from many different countries. My family is not one of those families, but like all, it does have history worth telling. I am doing my family tree on my mom’s side of the family. The family name is Blaszynski.

I was born at Lutheran General Hospital, which is located in Park Ridge, Illinois, and I was raised in Wauconda, Illinois. My mom, Joanne Blaszynski, was raised in Niles, Illinois. My grandparents and my great-grandparents were all born and raised around Chicago, Illinois. All of their parents were born in Poland. They came to the United States in the early 1900’s from Poland.

In the 1820’s, Poland was under Russia power and was known as Prussia. In the mid to late 1800’s, Poland was also known as Austrian Poland. Poland, in the 1900’s was going through some power struggles because it was just becoming recognized as its own country again. At this time Poland’s economy was very weak. Over 10,000 people had lost their jobs as an effect of the Russo-Japanese War.
