Most of health care organizations are complex and unique entities that consist of groups or teams of people with specific professions who carry various purposes in the set of policies, rules, relationships, procedures and culture. With high level of diversity, health care organizations consist of employees who have different functionalities. Management part of organizations includes accounting and finance, maintenance housekeeping, information systems and human resources. For the purpose of this paper, an administrator from Abington Memorial Hospital was interviewed.

Key Players

Abington Memorial Hospital consists of management and clinical sides. As described above, management side includes departments such as includes accounting and finance, maintenance housekeeping, information systems and human resources. Clinical part of the hospital includes nurses, physicians from various departments of medical treatments, laboratory technicians and other assisting personnel. The level of expertise in most of departments varies greatly, from new employees to highly specialized and proficient. Abington Memorial Hospital very carefully accepts responsibilities as no room can be for a mistake in health care. The important fact that hospital mainly deals with matter of life and death always plays a critical role. Each department has a manager who is considered to be a key player for the operations under his or her command. Each key player is coached by executive management. Executive management clearly reminds lower level management that hospital should have a very low level of tolerance with error, work has to be sophisticated and high level of communication and coordination between departments should ensure good efficiency of overall work.
