Amazon Evolution

When it comes to the Amazon Evolution, one must consider how it all started. It would be safe to assume that many of us have used this online resource at one time or another. Although they have had an increase in profits, the increase could have been better. Their operational costs are less then Walmart’s. The only online competitions they have are Google and Microsoft. Why is this? This is because people have begun to use these online vehicles to shop and this has cut into Amazon’s profits. Is there away for Amazon to gain some of this business back?

Well yes there is; however, Amazon would need to look into its data management. By improving this, Amazon could expect to see a return in its profits. Amazon uses three services, Simple Storage Services, Elastic Compute Cloud, and the Mechanical Turk (Rainer and Turner 2008). By using these services, Amazon is increasing profit. One other way to improve this is by advertising. When you see the lack of advertising Amazon has on the internet, you wonder how they have remained so strong. I usually use amazon.com when I am in need of something special. I know that I can usually find it on their website. There are times however that I will use them as a last resort. As a consumer, I am attracted to advertised items or services, as most people are, especially when it comes to online shopping. Amazon could also benefit by using more than the 10 percent of its processing capacity. In any type of business, they need to have the proper data, information and knowledge to help make the company successful. Anyone of these that is missing could cause the company to fail. The future of Amazon depends on how they look at the competition and how they react to it. With so many new software updates and companies that are increasing their online capacity, in order for Amazon to keep an edge, it needs to be proactive.
