Introduction

Presently, in our society the magazines Cosmopolitan for woman and Maxim for men are 2 dominating forces in the media that disgrace women and bound their representation. Regardless of the different target audiences, both magazines only identify women by the lens of male sexuality. The audience only gets knowledge from the magazine through a male analysis. This technique attracts women to analyze the world by the desires of men. Furthermore, the magazine encourages women to overlook their own individuality and to recognize themselves only in the context of the male vision world.

How Maxim and Cosmopolitan Convey Message

The construction of Cosmopolitan and Maxim advantage the male dominated society by maintaining power by depiction and capitalizing on advertising their ideal image. In the magazine for men, advertisements and articles contain a lot of diverse interests. The magazine for women is more confined and focused on presenting an image and promoting beauty.

Cosmopolitan is intended to plead to young upper middle-class white women. The advertisements contain costly, name brand fashion and magnificence products. The images in these advertisements are mostly thin, white, and gorgeous women. The articles are based on fashion, sex, relationships, and beauty, with some personal significant stories. The titles of these articles comprise: "What to Wear Now," "The Six Signs for Guy is hooked," "The 4 Ways to Fall in Love,”

In contrast, Maxim is designed to young teenage boys and college aged men. The advertisements spotlight on fashion, sports, video games alcohol, and cars. They employ sexually charged images to...
