Testing a Theory

A time that I had to test a theory was while raising money for SIDS awareness by selling SIDS ribbons for $1.00 each. The research that I used in order to organize this infant was internet resources, such as, fundraising sites, SIDS awareness and support sites, and the help of friends and family. Organizing this event with the help of fellow friends and family was a huge success and we were able to raise a lot of money to donate to research. I believe that the most beneficial form of research was through talking to others about SIDS and fundraising and coming up with a plan as a team.

I would say that my research methods might have been similar to psychologists, because I did have to do my research and figure out basically what, and how, to inform people of SIDS, and present facts about SIDS. I think that my research was similar to Correlational Studies, in which looks for relationships between variables. There can be three different results from a correlational study, in which is a positive correlation, a negative correlation, and no correlation.

If given another opportunity to do this event again, I would use more resources, make information pamphlets about SIDS, gather statistics on the percentage of what race SIDS primarily affects, how many boys or girls this effects, and the age that it generally happens to. I generally try and organize this type of event once a year and I believe that each year I will become stronger in the event and it will become more widespread. While this year’s fundraiser is already completed, I will use more outside resources in order to do research, I did not feel that the internet was the best source for my research but it did help me out when no one had the answers to some things.
