Gaining a Deeper Understanding of the Problem

According to Skinner & Beckham (2008) the issues that Ashley Wall must address at Treadway Tire Company plant in Lima Ohio are strong job dissatisfaction and high turnover among the company’s foremen (p.1). In the Multimedia presentation in Segment 4 Ashley Wall and John are having a discussion over what might be ways of resolving the conflicts within the company structure so that the turnover rate can be alleviated among the foreman and job dissatisfaction can be minimized. In this analysis what will be explored were there other factors besides the foremen leaving the company that Wall should address? As well as what things should Ashley Wall consider when coming up with an action plan to solve the problem? The analysis will be composed of three separate discussions, of which Part One will address whether Ashley Wall was on track or not. Part Two will address what data information are needed in order for Wall to better understand all the issues that might be impacting the problem, so she can come up with an effective action plan. Part Three will explore has the learner experienced a similar dialogue within their workplace that Ashley Wall had to deal with, and if so how was the problem resolved.

Discussion Part One:

In the discussion between Ashley Wall and John some of the concerns expressed by Ashley Wall were that she wanted to bring together the foremen to work on reviewing the company’s mission and vision statement, so that the statements could be aligned with what the foremen did on a regular basis. To do that she needed to know and take a look at what duties and responsibilities that the foremen were required to do. She also needs to take a look at staffing levels, production numbers and processes, along with the operational budget for each department.
