Abstract

Due to the rapid development of science and technology today, the aircraft has become one of the most common modes of transportation for people to, and the airport has become an infrastructure for rapid and convenient travel. The purpose of this paper is to explain the concept of Green Sustainable Airport and show the importance of building Green Sustainable Airport. This paper also discusses the elements needed to take into consideration to build a Green Sustainable Airport. At the end of this paper, the significance of Green Sustainable Airport is analyzed and summarized.

Research on Green Sustainable Airport

In the 21st century, the development of global economic integration accelerates and promotes the development of civil air transport. After so many years of airport development, new ideas have been introduced to improve the eco-friendly and environment-friendly airport design. On the other hand, with the advent of new large aircrafts like A380 and the increasing number of airports, as well as a growing number of air passengers and cargo traffic, the requirements and standard of airport facilities, security, capacity, and information services have become increasingly critical and the impact of airports to the environment is also become larger. Therefore, building a resource-saving and environment-friendly and sustainable green airport system is necessary, and now it has become a national and global consensus to develop the Green Sustainable Airport.

Concept of Green Sustainable Airport

The Green Sustainable Airport project was initiated by Groningen Airport Eelde (The Netherlands), and the Vision and Goals of this project are to build an airport to satisfy the present needs while ensuring the possibility of satisfying future needs.
