Throughout our lives, we surpass several stages and go through different phases of our lives. You have your adolescent years, your midlife crisis, your “learning” years as a toddler and child, and many others. All of these phases are important to overall quality of life. One of the most important and arguably most difficult phases we will go through in our lives is the coming of age phase. Most people go through this phase late in there adolescent years or early into their adulthood. It is an important phase in life because it is where you forge yourself for the rest of your life. You develop your characteristics, your personality traits, your morals and belief systems, as well as your priorities. In essence, this phase can be known as the foundation of you. For some people it can be a difficult time in their lives because it can be somewhat conflicting. There can be conflict between you and your family, your friends, the society that surrounds you, and even yourself. I believe that I am currently in this phase of my life right now.
At such an early age, only 17 years old, I have learned many valuable life lessons that I will not have to suffer through later on in life. I have gone through a lot of trials and tribulations, and many victories and defeats. I consider myself a very stubborn person; it takes more effort than ordinary to get something through to my head. I need to try a lot harder than most people do to clearly understand something. I can be a pessimist and kick myself over being so stubborn or I can accept the fact that I am so hard headed and come to terms with it.
