Headline News: Captain John Smith

Dear Mr. President,

I have traveled far and in my travels I have landed in a strange foreign country of the name, Okapaka. The Native people here have welcomed me to their tribe. I seek no immediate threats of violence, so I feel this is a safe country.

The Natives here speak no English at all. They bear only ostrich feathers and the pelts of animals they have hunted. They have a strong belief in nature. Their Gods are all symbols of nature. They do a ritual every night to worship their Gods for giving them the appropriate tools and food to survive.

This evening I was invited to be the guest of honor at the ritual. The high chancellor of Okapaka wishes to visit our country. I have been here for almost three days now, and I have seen absolutely no threats of any kind at all. They are a very peaceful people and wish to visit our country to learn new ways of life.

Mr. President, please allow the native people of Okapaka to visit the United States. They are in a very bad struggle right now and they wish to learn new thing and techniques to help them survive. I also believe that the citizens of the United States could also learn a thing or two. Even though the natives here barely have enough food to survive, they still welcome my team and I with a gracious meal every night. They are also very grateful for what the have.

Please allow these people a minimum of two weeks in the United States, so they can learn from us and we can learn from them.

Sincerely,

Ambassador Daniel Perez

I used a tone that would make you feel sorry for the people of Okapaka. I used certain strategies that allowed me to seem sympathetic towards them.
