The Romans Road
There are many ways in which to discuss evangelism. God created us all with unique personalities. So just as we are different, so the method of evangelism may not always be the same for each person. Indeed, there is only one way to communicate the gospel but it can take different forms. We must listen to the Holy Spirit and grow in the different ways in which we can communicate the Good News.
One very powerful method of evangelism is referred to as “The Romans Road†method of evangelism. This approach reflects its name, in that the evangelist takes you on a simple journey though powerful Scripture verses in the book of Romans. This happens by reading Bible verses beginning in Romans 3:10 stating: “there is no one righteous, not even one.†And the last verse ends in Romans 10:13, which says: “for whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.†The rest of the verses that guide you on the Romans Road are: Romans 3:23, 5:12, 6:23, 5:8, and 10:9-10. It starts with the negative (we are sinners unrighteous) and ends with positive (but the gift of God is eternal life).
The advantage to this method is you don’t have to flip through a bunch of pages in your Bible; you can stick to one book. Also the evangelist has the opportunity to present the living Word of God to the witness for them to read, touch and decipher for himself or herself.
A disadvantage to this approach is you might not always have a Bible with you. Sometimes you meet someone who inquires about Christ and you might be in the grocery store or walking your dog. This method cannot always be a spontaneous evangelism approach.
