Title: Pride and Prejudice

Author: Jane Austen (16 December 1775 – 18 July 1817) was an English novelist of romantic fiction. Her best known books include Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfieold Park (1814) and Emma (1816).

Setting: England 19th century

Theme: true love is a force separate from society and one that can conquer even the most difficult of circumstances.

Main Characters:

* Elizabeth Bennet, twenty years old, she is intelligent, lively, attractive, and witty.

* Mr. Darcy, Twenty-eight years old and unmarried, wealthy, handsome, tall, and intelligent, but not convivial.

Plot: In Georgian England, Mrs. Bennet raises her five daughters - Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty and Lydia with the purpose of getting married with a rich husband that can support the family. They are not from the upper class. When the wealthy bachelor Mr. Bingley and his best friend Mr. Darcy arrive in town to spend the summer in a mansion nearby their property, the shy and beautiful Jane falls in love for Mr. Bingley, and Lizzie finds Mr. Darcy a snobbish and proud man, and she swears to loathe him forever. This is the beginning of their wonderful love story

After a lot of misunderstandings Darcy realized he had been wrong to act so proudly and place so much emphasis on class differences. Elizabeth realized that she had been wrong to judge Darcy prematurely and to allow her judgment to be affected by her vanity. Both couples marry, Elizabeth and Darcy and Jane and Bingley.

Conflicts:

* Mrs Bennet’s desperate attempt to find suitable husbands to her daughters

* Darcy trying to win Elizabths love
