Two Competing Imaging Leaders and Their Responses to Change

While many Medical imaging service providers exists in today's Market this paper will set out to compare two leaders in the National market which have both undergone change and growth within the last several years. While one focus on the actual imaging and patient care CDI Center for diagnostic Coding a privately held company. The other Merge Health care focus on supplying the industry with Medical imaging software that other Medical imaging companies use in their business.

CDI, founded in 1981 in Minneapolis, was the vision of radiologist Kenneth Heithoff, M.D. Dr. Heithoff realized early on the importance of focusing on an area of the body to sub specialize in radiology (as citied in Center for Diagnostic Imaging. 2014). Dr Heithoff realized the necessity for outpatient Imaging services and sought a way to move away from the hospital systems. His vision and goal of better patient care and more economical prices has grown into a multi-million dollar leader in today's markets across the country. They are continuing to grow and expanding their market share with a vision of patient care satisfaction and affordable rates.

Merge Health Care was founded in 1987 and built a reputation as a company that enabled the transformation of legacy radiology (film-based) images into modern (filmless) digitized images for distribution and diagnostic interpretation (as citied in MRGE 10-K. 2007). They have undergone several merges buying out competitors as well as other film based software companies. It continues to experience growth and steady increases in revenue. They strive to be the best in imaging software across the country.
