Through a book called The Future of Life Edward O. Wilson satirizes the language of two groups that hold opposing attitudes about environmentalism and conservationists. Wilson directs an understandable but satirical perspective on how some government officials, bureaucrats, lawyers and consultants define what environmentalism and conservationism is about – apart from the general public personal points of view on the subject at hand. Explaining various reasons why and why not those who are in power make certain decisions, which are sometimes based on stereotypes and critics, while at the same time illustrating the aftereffect from following through with these decision is what Edward elaborates on in the passage.

Naturally one individual would think that those who are in power will protect the environment that the general public lives in, but that is only to say the complete opposite. Discussed here in a quote, “Relax your guard when these people are in power and your property rights go down the tube”, the satire here shows the unimaginable happens when one least expects it, though one wouldn’t think of the consequences that would come from the choices the government officials make, “Their aim is to expand government…”. Consumed by political power and favoritism leads individuals astray – from judgment to bad decision making all for the purpose of their own self-interests.

Undoubtedly the author of The Future of Life didn’t just simply wished for government to take a moment’s notice for their abusive actions but also elaborated on why the general public would ignore such demeanors from the ones that supposed to support them in their ballistic views of life. Through another quote, “What’s at stake as they busy themselves are you tax dollars and mine, and ultimately our freedom too. Relax your guard when those people are in power and your property rights for down the tube”, in which the author shows the characteristics of the general public reactions to the...
