1.) Resume screening tools are definitely having a positive impact on HR departments. Many companies have found that manually screening resumes is too time consuming. Firms would post a position and in return receive hundreds of resumes that would have to be filed through. Recently software was developed that sorts through potential employees and provides the most qualified applicant. Screening tools are having a positive effect on HR departments for numerous reasons but the major reason is the time and energy firms are saving. The specific software is even capable of prescreening applicants. HR departments don’t have to worry about finding qualified people on their own; they set the software to find qualified applicants by having a short questionnaire. That being said, some managers find that resume screening tools to be useless. It is believed that the software sometimes rejects capable applicants even before a HR manager looks through the applicant’s credentials. Another negative aspect to the software is that applicants have learned to infuse their resumes with a job’s keywords to get past certain parts of the resume-screening. I believe every firm has their own preference and I personally can see the software having a positive and negative impact on firms. Overall, having a resume tool in place will allow the organization to make a better decision in selecting a candidate that meets or exceeds the job qualifications.
