During the cold war there were many events and occurrences that were very tough to solve. However the major event that cough president Kennedy’s, America and the whole world attention was non-other than the Cuban Missile crisis. The Cuban Missile Crisis was an event that could have changed history as we know it. The major crisis could have submerged the U.S and the Soviets into probably a third war world, but also a war where atomic weapons, and atomic warfare would be used by both sides to exterminate each other killing millions of humans. The atomic outbreak would have been a devastation to the human world and the human population. The situation between the United States and the and the Soviet Union which had atomic intercontinental ballistic missiles in Cuba had never been so tense for the United States. It was a terrifying time in history.

The 13 days of crisis started on Monday October 15, 1962. However, suspicion of a Soviet movement in Cuba had been reported since august as Large amounts of Russian technicians were reported to be in Cuba by Cuban refugees that claim to have seen them and large tubular objects with them. On October 10, senator Keating claimed that six intermediate-range missiles sites were being constructed on the island, and he had acquired this information by “100%” reliable sources. There was much controversy about Senator Keating statements, for once the U.S couldn't believe that Russia was working with the soviets, or that the soviets were only giving surface to earth missiles to Cuba. The U.S still send u-2 aircraft to take photographs of the site. The decision taken by the U.S to send U2 aircraft was important because it warned us. Turns out there were no ballistic missiles in sight, but small evidence of missiles were recognized. After studying the pictures, it was determine that offensive missiles were indeed in Cuba.
