Climate Change and Fossil Fuels

Basically, climate change refers to a change in the statistical distribution of the patterns of weather when that change occurs for a long period of time. It may mean a change in the time variation of weather or change in the average weather conditions for longer term. It is caused by factors like variation in radiation of solar received by the earth, biotic processes, and plate tectonics among other factors including human activities. On the other hand, global warming means the ongoing and recent increase in global average temperature close to the surface of the earth. This is mainly cause by the increasing concentrations of the greenhouse gases in the earth’s atmosphere. It is actually causing change in the climate patterns even though it only represent a single aspect of change in climate.

CAUSES OF CLIMATE CHANGE OR GLOBAL WARMING.

Generally, global warming can be caused by factors related to natural processes as well as those related to human activities. The natural factors which are external to the climate system and can affect the climate of the earth include but not limited to changes in solar output, orbit of the earth around the sun and volcanic activity. Changes in solar radiation and changes in volcanic activity affects the energy balance of the earth in the sense that they influence the amount of incoming energy. Human activities play a very big role in contributing to global warming. Basically, the 19th century industrial revolution entailed the large scale usage of fossil fuels for activities in industries which created employment opportunities and people migrated from rural to urban areas. This is still the case in present world. There has been increase rate of deforestation to create space for houses and natural resources are extensively being used for transport, consumption, construction and industries. It is worth noting that all these human activities have significantly...
