What Do We Do With Howard?

Howard Lineberry has been with Agrigreen, Inc. for 18 years. Agrigreen, Inc. manufactures various agricultural fertilizers in the Western United States and in Canada. Tad Pierson was appointed as a project manager 3 months ago; he also has just been informed that he will be supervising the plant surveying group in which Howard Lineberry is a part of. Since Howard has been employed with Agrigreen, Inc for several years, he has worked under a four other supervisors and with several other crew members that have worked with the plant survey group. Howard is also the pants lead surveyor.

After receiving his surveyor’s certificate from a local civil technology college, Howard began working for the State Highway Department as a chainman. Howard was not satisfied in his position as he felt that the lead surveyor didn’t like him. Howard felt that the lead surveyor had him doing work that was not in his job description. Therefore, Howard jumped on the opportunity when Agrigreen, Inc. had an opened position and was excited when he landed the position.

Jerry Givens was the manager of engineering when Howard was hired Agrigreen, Inc. and Howard’s first supervisor. Howard enjoyed the management style of Jerry as Howard didn’t have to think for himself. As soon as Howard would report to work, Jerry had the plans and schedule in place, so Howard knew what needed to be done and knew how Jerry expected the work to be done. After the retirement of Jerry, Paul Jackson became the new manager of engineering and also Howard’s immediate supervisor. Paul managed differently than Jerry. Paul expected Howard to make his own work plans based on the work that needed to be done. Jackson and Lineberry did not have a good working relation. Jackson felt that Lineberry made many errors and is lazy in his work. Jackson appointed Dan Richards to assist Lineberry. Dan and Paul have the same opinion of Lineberry when it comes to his.
