The writer reviewed the article titled, “From Behavior to Cognition to the Brain and Back: What Have We Learned From Functional Imaging Studies of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder?” by BJ Casey and Sarah Durston.

The authors describe their presumptions regarding brain images in ADHD patients. The authors points are supported by research of brain images that illustrate the patterns of changes in the brain when ADHD patients are in the decision making process. The authors present that ADHD patients have problems with self-regulation, not impulse control. The writer chose the article as the research pertained to cognition as well as the common disorder ADHD.

The authors used brain scan images and conducted three different studies prior to presenting their findings regarding the study. Therefore, in the writers’ opinion, the study can be duplicated with valid results. The study can be implemented in other settings, most commonly would be academic or medical. The research presented appears valid and viable. The authors comments are based on the findings of the research and do not appear to be biased. The authors’ perspective is supportive of their findings. The writer did not find a personal reflection of the experiment. Reflections of the experiment were illustrated through the statistics and data of the research project. The author’s observation indicated that the use of stimulants to treat ADHD did not explain the difference in brain patterns between individuals without ADHD. The relevance of the authors study indicate and emphasize tracking the processes of cognitive changes in brain patters. Additionally, the authors show that ADHD include environmental and genetic pathways, thus allowing new research opportunities to be entertained regarding phenotype variability.

The second article the writer reviewed was, “Processing Speed Deficits in Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Reading Disability”, by Shannahan, Pennington, Yerys,...
