Theory Why book report

This book report is based on Theory Why: In Which the Boss Solves the Riddle of Quality, written be John Guaspari. This book was published by Amacom Books, and copyrighted 1986.

Summary

The book starts out describing the activities of the company "Punctuation Inc." and the problems it was facing. After an unsatisfied customer visited "The Boss" in his office, it was clear that they had a problem with the quality of products. Frustrated, "The Boss" recruits his "Right Hand man" and "Left Hand man" to be in charge of quality management for the entire company. Although, "The Boss" knew exactly what to do, and also knew the answer for the question "why", he preferred that his aids and department mangers figure it out on their own. After several months, and a couple of attempts, they realized that "Quality" is actually the "Value" that the customer is receiving for the product.

By taking this measure, "The Boss" enforced productive thinking and viewing the products from the customers' point of view in his departments' managers and aids. This results in the departments being more efficient and productive. Therefore, that results in increasing the overall productivity of "Punctuation Inc.".

As I continued reading, my attitude towards this book changed from total annoyance, with the repetition style that the author used, to being slightly irritated, after getting used to it. As I got to the final chapters, and the all the pieces fell into place, I finally understood what "The Boss" was trying to prove all along, and the...
