Specific purpose: At the end of my speech, you will be convinced to take a stand against premarital sex.

Introduction: God created this world from its smallest creatures which is atom to its largest ones. Many creatures such as humans and animals have many needs to satisfy. According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs as cited in Urwiler and Frolick(2008), there are five level of needs which are physiological, safety, social, self-esteem, and self-actualization needs. So, sex, one of the most important needs, is considered to be among physiological needs. But sex must be made in an appropriate way. So, premarital sex is not an appropriate way because of many reasons, such as religion, morals, and health.

Body:

I. At first, many religions forbid premarital sex, such as Christianity and Islam.

A. The Holy Bible mentions the forbidden of fornication and its sanctions.

1. According to According to the New Testament in the Holy Bible, there is a command from god in order not to commit adultery and fornication. (p.9)

2. The New Testament in the Holy Bible also mentions that it is better for those who commit fornication or adultery to lose any of their organs rather than burning all their bodies in hell. (p.9). It also mentions another sanction which prevents Christians to sit or even eat with other Christians who commit fornication. (p.274).

B. Also, According to Quran and Hadith, Islam doesn’t permit premarital sex.

1. Allah mentions in Quran in Surat Al-Isra (The Night Journey):32"And do not come near to adultery; surely it has been an obscenity and odious as a way.(p.285)

2. Allah also says in Surat An-Nur (The Light):2 "The female fornicator and the male fornicator then lash each one of them a hundred lashes…" (p.350). According to prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as cited in Al-Qortobi (2006), the fornicator must be exiled for one year. (p.832)
