When a company is reviewing potential projects, there must be several questions answered. The questions are cost, potential benefits and length of time to complete the project. This process starts with a meeting the department heads to determine what project to complete. Once this is complete, then the management team will pick a person to be the champion for the project. This is the beginning of the process. This paper will give information about non-profit gathering information about a barcode scanner for the inventory system.

The barcode scanner is piece of equipment for deciphering printed barcodes. This system requires more components for an inventory system.The barcode scanner will aid employees to receive, allocate for production and ship materials. When inventory is required for production, the material handler can utilize the bar-code scanner to accurately determine the correct item and quantity required for the assembly line. The barcode scanner can assist in streamlining the inventory process. This equipment can modernize and increase inventory control for company and customer owned materials. This will decrease the time used to locate materials. The bar-code scanners will connect the warehouse, customer service, production and accounting.

The barcode scanner will help in several areas. The first area is receiving. This is the beginning of the process. Materials can immediately be received in the system. Since we know the materials that are coming, the system can be set to receive the items. This will eliminate the usage of spreadsheets that are sent a day after the materials arrives.
