This article contains the personal experiences of Mr. Tim Bryce of giving job interviews. He has gone through tough time while giving interviews not because he is not good at it, its because of the fact that the procedure and pattern followed by the today's corporate world is not appropriate . And so many problems are faced by the candidates during giving interviews.

Many problems were mentioned by the writer. Specially, the type of questions asked by the interviewer are not relevant, instead of asking to describe who you are, what you have done so far in your professional life, what kind of expertise and skills you have acquired. Human Resource today ask questions like: Where you see your self in five years from now? How do you handle pressure? How do you deal with conflict? Tell me something that nobody knows about?

The interviewer asked more personality based questions instead of asking professional questions. The trend is more towards knowing the psychological aspects of candidate personality, on the basis of such techniques practiced by the HR department of the company in order to evaluate the candidates, whether they can fit in the corporate culture. The writer also highlight humorously the concept of speed interviewing, whereby a number of people were interviewed briefly in a rotational format just like an entertainment program is going on, like American Idol. Company also lack in showing professional courtesy, in the form of a replying or acknowledging the candidate in response of their job application. Or after the interview candidate must be informed of their status, which has been not in great practice. Lack of professionalism is shown by the employer, which is probably not very good.

In my opinion, writer has raised important points on the process of modern job interview methods followed by almost every company these days. Human Resource department of every organization should consider these problems seriously, so that candidates should not have...
