My Decision to Pursue MBA

In this paper I would like to illustrate an argument, my decision to pursue an MBA degree to become a business owner or explore a more exciting career. By using the Jungian 16-Type Personality Assessment results, I can substantiate and establish why the decision to pursue an MBA was the right decision. I firmly believe that a degree in engineering combined with a MBA can reward a very successful, satisfying and a challenging career for me.

The educational background has a great influence on our personality and the decisions taken regarding our career prospects. That explains why engineers are analytical, those from the management sector are strategic, those from the creative field are innovative and those in the fields of Math and programming have problem-solving skills. A master’s degree is something I have always wanted to attain ever since my college education. I have a degree in metallurgical engineering from a prestigious University in India and worked a couple of years in Indian Railways as an engineer before moving to US in 1993. Ever since reaching here I was trying to initiate with my dream of acquiring a higher degree in Business. Even though I have got a good job with an oil company in Houston, some how I was not able to chase the most cherished dream of my life for a long while. My father was running a business for many years in India. He loved what he was doing, a very honest and hardworking businessman, but he had to go through so many disappointments in his endeavor. Even though he was a very hardworking person, he was not doing well in his business activities due to his lack of proper education. So for me, having a MBA is a personal goal fulfills and to also further develop my knowledge in the field of business administration which in turn adds value to my career.
