Every team group whether it be school or work benefits greatly from having diverse members. It is beneficial to a team because each individual member’s talents can be recognized. This diversity also allows the team to achieve maximum potential. While working in a team online all members are treated with the same equality regardless of which diversity group they belong to, this is also true for teams within an organization. Each member of Team D has their own talents base as well as behavior style. These different behavioral styles have allowed us to come together and work well as a team. These behavioral styles are based on how we approach different situations in our personal and business lives. The behavioral styles of team D include dominance, steadiness and cautious styles. These styles will be compared and contrasted and the team’s effectiveness will be evaluated.
The Dominance Behavior Style
Two team members have indicated that their primary behavioral style is the Dominance Style, or D Style, both members have a sub style of the Producer or Ds. For the first team member their result of the assessment is not at all surprising; however, there are elements of the dominance style that are not a match to their existing behavior. They also feel that there are elements of other the behavioral styles that are a match to their already behavior. The dominance behavioral style is fast-paced, goal and task oriented, with prevailing characteristics being the need to control and the need to achieve. These features of the dominance behavioral style are right on point with personal observation of their behavior. They in fact thrive in a fast paced environment thus providing this teammate with challenging but rewarding settings. In addition, the dominance behavioral style are go-getters, and will dive head first into any situation in the decision making process.
