Analysis of Team Charter

Creating a team charter is an important step of developing a successful team. The team charter creates the ground rules for the team. During the creation of the charter strengths, weaknesses, and personalities begin to emerge. A team without a team charter has no foundation to build upon other than the assignment at hand. The charter lets each team member know what is expected of his or her contribution to the team.

Teams are made up of individuals. Each individual will bring something different to the table. Different personalities will be something to be accounted for. Times will exist that all team members may be close in personality type while at other times the personality types will be vastly different. The knowledge of these differences goes a long way in the success of the team. “A focus on the role of personality on team functioning enhanced members’ ability to understand their own as well as other team members’ behavior and that awareness of differences was actively used by students to promote team functioning” (Clinebell & Stecher, 2003, p. 362). Once personality types are understood the team can begin working with one another capitalizing on strengths and helping each other with weaknesses.

After doing personality assessments Team C discovered the group held many similarities. The entire group is both introverted and intuitive with only two differing in the other areas. The four members of the group are not the most trusting personality types. Whereas none of the group scored high on listening skills the individuals were around the middle so not on the lower end either. The introverted group may have found the perfect forum in online education to have voices heard. Online forums feel more comfortable to this student as the potential for misspeaking is lessened.
